The design system project for World Market’s® marketing geo-targeted emails was transformed with a mobile-first approach. This strategy enhanced brand consistency, user engagement, and operational efficiency.
Roles and Responsibilities
Collaborating with the Creative Director, I strategized a new organizational workflow for designing, producing, and deploying their monthly newsletters. This included creating and managing a set of responsive modular templates informed by the newly developed design system. Additionally, I facilitated partnerships with design operations by conducting workshops to teach the design and development teams how to implement and use Figma effectively.
Challenges and Solutions
When World Market® decided to change its processes and workflows, I was brought on as a consultant to design, guide, and support the in-house design and development teams. Introducing the template design system and email workflow required a thoughtful approach. My goal was to be a supportive resource and ally, helping the team navigate new tools and real-time tasks. Opening my calendar for personalized sessions allowed me to address specific questions, offer my Figma expertise, and review practical design. This approach provided real-time data to fix template issues and fostered a collaborative environment where team members felt included and informed, leading to valuable feedback and recommendations.

Implementing the design system significantly reduced workflow time, cutting email creation time in half. Component design and deployment ensured a seamless and effective process. The success of this project inspired the design operations team to explore other workstreams and optimize them using design systems.
